Hazendal Golf for families

Fresh air, sun and exercise! No, we aren’t talking about the beach or a day in the park (as wonderful as that is), we’re talking about a sport that the entire family can get involved in.

We’re talking about golf, of course!

What could be more fun than a day on the green? Nothing else in our books! So if you thought golf was just a boring, stuffy old game that dads used to play on a Sunday afternoon… ummmm, think again!

Thanks to Hazendal Wine Estate, the WHOLE family can now join in on the golfing fun - we promise an exciting day out!

So how exactly does a wine estate like Hazendal fit into the golfing world?

We’re super excited to let you know... And suggest you start practicing that golf swing and possibly invest in a family golfing trophy too, because, well, the winner deserves a prize after all.

Let’s go golfing!

What does Hazendal Have On Offer For Golfers?

1. 18-Hole Par-3 Golf Course

Hazendal 18-Hole Par-3 Golf Course

Good question! If you thought Hazendal Wine Estate was simply all about wine, Wonderdal, Russian Tea Ceremonies, a beautiful wedding venue and home to some of the tastiest food in the Cape... Think again!

Hazendal Estate has just launched our very own Hazendal Golf experience. The highlight is the World-class 18 Hole Par-3 “mashie” course. Offering panoramic Winelands views, the course offers a challenging yet entertaining round of ‘mashie’ golf for both beginners and accomplished players.

The course has been masterfully designed, with large undulating bent grass greens, beautifully and strategically placed bunkers and rough most golfers would like to avoid, which sets you up for a great short game challenge.

But wait, there’s more…

2. The Burrow Driving Range

The Burrow Driving Range

Our Burrow Driving Range is pretty special and here are all the reasons why...

The range consists of 32 open-air and undercover InRange-enabled bays, facing onto a 270-metre range. The Burrow offers a high-quality practice facility for discerning golfers in Cape Town and the surrounding Winelands *could there be a more beautiful place to golf?!*.

Why is our Driving Range so special?

  • Our state-of-the-art driving range is the first of its kind in South Africa.
  • The bays are equipped with the latest tracking technology for an interactive golf experience.
  • A large practice putting green is also on offer with several chipping greens, a 90-metre pitching area, greenside practice bunkers and a fairway bunker.

Dress Code: Oh yes, we went there, we do have a dress code (we know you love to look good on the green). To view the code, simply click here.

3. Something for the kids: Kleine Hazen Putting Park

Kleine Hazen Putting Park

We certainly haven’t forgotten about the kids! Oh no, we see those budding little golfers and know how good some of them already are! The Kleine Hazen Putting Park is perfect for the little ones to start practising that golf swing! *That's where the family trophy part comes in!*.

The Kleine Hazen Putting Park consists of 27 holes of adventure golf and a range of family-friendly activities and attractions.

What does Kleine Hazen Putting Park have on offer?

  • The 27-hole putt putt course was established to be enjoyed by golfers, non-golfers and families alike.
  • All equipment is provided.
  • The Putting Park allows golfers and novices to discover the fun side of the game.
  • The custom-designed park is suitable for all ages and skills.
  • Adjacent picnic areas and jungle gyms offer secure children’s play areas, as well as plenty of open space for kids to burn off energy.
  • Older kids will love the oversized outdoor chess set. While young ones have a ball, parents can relax on a shady bench, or grab a light bite and barista-crafted coffee from the on-site kiosk.

Operating hours:

Winter hours: Tuesday – Friday (10:00 – 17:00)

Saturday and Sunday (08:00 – 17:00)

After a day spent at the Putting Park, you’ll probably hear requests from your little ones wishing they could have a putting party… Not to worry moms and dads - Hazendal now offers Putting Parties at Kleine Hazen- yay!

The Hazendal Golf Academy offers a range of structured programmes to help junior and adult players perfect their game, correct their swing or, simply, learn to play and enjoy the game of golf.

What does the Golf Academy have to offer?

  • Hazendal Golf Academy is passionate about developing South Africa’s young golfing talent.
  • The Academy has a range of structured programmes, aimed at training Bunnies (4-6 years) and Youth (7-17 years), through group sessions and individual coaching, both in-studio and out on the course.

All Of That Exercise Makes For Hungry Work - Enjoy Lunch At Babushka Deli

Babushka Deli

All of the fresh air, exercise and sunshine is hungry work. Not to worry, there is plenty of sustenance on hand at Hazendal.

After a few rounds of perfecting your golf game, rally up the troops and head over to Babushka Deli for a spot of lunch, to, you know, refuel for the next round.

Babushka Deli happens to be one of THE most popular destinations on Hazendal Estate.

Bodies of athletes (or moms and dads who golf on weekends) deserve to be fuelled by nutritious food. The Lentil and Aubergine Salad or Tomato, Chorizo and Olive Penne (you know, for necessary carbo-loading), will certainly hit the spot after a good great game of golf.

Not to worry, Babushka Deli also has a dedicated Kids Menu too, to ensure the mini Kleine Hazen golfers are properly fuelled up! Veggie Fritters with Sneaky Tomato Sauce is crammed full of all of the good stuff, making those little golfing arms super strong!

Click here to view the full Babushka Menu but remember to book, our deli is super popular for a reason and seats fill up quickly!

Now that we’ve let the cat or hare *see what we did there* out of the bag and let you know about the latest addition to the Hazendal Estate, we suggest you start brushing up on that golfing knowledge - we see many family golfing days in your future!
